Whether you are currently using Retevis GMRS radio and planning to add Midland GMRS radio, or you are currently using Midland GMRS radio and planning to add Retevis GMRS radio, or you already have both, if you are confused about how to connect them, This article can help you make the problem and solution clearer.
To make the description more intuitive, we take Retevis RT76P and Midland GXT1000 GMRS radio as examples.
Because the GMRS radio is an analog model, to realize the intercommunication between the two GMRS radios, it is only necessary to ensure that the frequency and sub-tone are consistent. No need to consider whether they are GMRS handheld or GMRS mobile.
Note, the following methods are also applicable to Midland Model GXT1000/1030/1040/1050/1191 Series.
First step, Match the frequency
Whether it is Retevis GMRS radio or midland GMRS radio, the frequency is fixed and cannot be changed. Therefore, we need to find their channels with the same frequency according to their factory GMRS frequency table.
First, let's look at the factory frequency settings of the Retevis RT76P GMRS radio
Second, let's take a look at the Midland GTX1000 factory settings:
Let's correspond with a simple list(Because what we are talking about today has nothing to do with the GMRS repeater, we will not talk about the GMRS repeater channel):
Retevis GMRS channel number | Frequency | Midland GMRS channel number |
1 | 462.5625 | *1 *23 *42 |
2 | 462.5875 | *2 *31 |
3 | 462.6125 | *3 *24 *43 |
4 | 462.6375 | *4 *32 |
5 | 462.6625 | *5 *25 *44 |
6 | 462.6875 | *6 *33 |
7 | 462.7125 | *7 *26 *45 |
8 | 467.5625 | *8 *34 |
9 | 467.5875 | *9 |
10 | 467.6125 | *10 *35 |
11 | 467.6375 | *11 |
12 | 467.6625 | *12 *36 |
13 | 467.6875 | *13 |
14 | 467.7125 | *14 *37 |
15 | 462.5500 | *15 *27 *46 |
16 | 462.5750 | *16 *38 |
17 | 462.6000 | *17 *28 *47 |
18 | 462.6250 | *18 *39 |
19 | 462.6500 | *19 *29 *48 |
20 | 462.6750 | *20 *40 |
21 | 462.7000 | *21 *30 *49 |
22 | 462.7250 | *22 *41 *50 |
From this table, we can see that the first 22 GMRS direct channels of Retevis GMRS radio correspond to the GMRS factory settings of midland one by one, and for the midland preset channels, we also marked them in the table, taking channel 1 462.5625 as an example, in Channel 1 corresponds to Retevis GMRS radio, while in midland GXT1000, in addition to channel 1, there are channel 23 and channel 42.
Therefore, in order to realize the intercommunication between Retevis GMRS radio and Midland GMRS radio, the first step is to correspond to the frequency. Let's take channel 1 as an example (if you are currently using other channels, please refer to the table to find one and find the corresponding channel) ), set the Retevis RT76P GMRS radio to channel 1, and the midland GXT1000 to channel 1, channel 23, or channel 42.
The second step, Match the subtones.
Next is subtone, in the preset channels table of Midland, we can see the subtone preset for each channel, take channel 1 as an example.
We can find the corresponding value in PRIVACY CODES FREQUENCY CHART in Midland:
you can change the CTCSS setting of Retevis RT76P according to the preset subtone of Midland, or according to the CTCSS setting of Retevis RT76P to change the subtone of Midland GTX1000, aim to achieve the same subtone.
Match the sub to midland of the Retevis RT76P GMRS radio
The third, Keep them in the same bandwidth, midland GMRS radio 8-14 channels are fixed narrowband, other channels are wideband, and Retevis RT76P factory default narrowband 8-14 channels, all other channels default wideband (The previous batches all defaulted to narrowband), you can verify the bandwidth through the Retevis programming software and change it as needed.
Confirm that the frequency and subtone are consistent, and then verify the bandwidth, you can realize the Retevis RT76P GMRS radio and midland's GXT1000 GMRS two way radio to communicate with each other.
