What do the letters and numbers of the IP Index stand for?

The IP (Ingress Protection) protection level system was drafted by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), and electrical appliances are classified according to their dust-proof and moisture-proof characteristics. The IP protection class consists of two numbers. The first number indicates the level of dustproof and foreign object intrusion prevention of the electrical appliance, and the second number indicates the airtightness level of the electrical appliance against moisture and water immersion. The higher the number, the higher the protection level.
