Retevis RT97 and RT97S are two 10W repeaters. They are loved by people because they are easy to operate and portable and can be connected to most two way radios on the market to effectively extend the communication distance. When some friends encounter a situation where the repeater fails to work, there are two ways to simply determine where the problem is.
When we face that RT97 or RT97S cannot work, we can easily determine the cause of the problem through two methods. The first method is to detect the power cord. The second method is to test the power strip inside.
The power line voltage problem causes the output voltage to become low, the duplexer power to reduce, the communication distance to shorten or not to work.
At this time, use a multimeter to test the positive and negative voltages of the power cord and test whether the voltage of the machine's power output interface is normal.
The power cord sockets are marked 1, 2, 3, and 4. Insert the red measuring pen into port 1 and the black measuring pen into port 2. If the measured output is around 12V, it is normal.
If the measured voltage is very different from 12v, you can try changing the power cord.
Open the casing of RT97 or RT97S, find the power board, find this area on the power board (if shown), and also test it with a multimeter. The red pen touches the first one, and the black pen touches the fifth one. If the voltage is not between 7.8V-8.4V at this time, it proves that the internal power supply voltage of the repeater is unstable. At this time, it is necessary to repair the power board “LM2576S’.
