For the price, decent build quality, decent battery life, tons of customization, and it works! There is something weird about it, when you charge the radio directly from the USB charger it doesn't show if the battery is charging so you don't know if it is working or when charging is complete. The only charging light is on the desktop charging stand, which turns from red to green when it's done.
Solid GMRS radio
I just got my GMRS license and this bundle is my first rig, the RA85 has a high quality feel to it, although there is no IP waterproof rating in the specs, it does have heavy use of rubber covering all the ports and side buttons things. The display is a good size, and the text is very clear under the backlight. However, when the backlight is off, you need direct light to see the text. The charging base uses USB-C, which is a huge plus, but...it's even better...these radios have a USB-C charging port on the handheld itself! I did notice that when the cable is connected directly to the device, there is absolutely no status on the screen, and no LEDs, but they do charge. The base has a color changing charge status LED.
